The siege of Warsaw in 1939 was fought between the Polish Warsaw Army (Polish: Armia Warszawa) garrisoned and entrenched in Warsaw and the invading German Army. It began with huge aerial bombardments initiated by the Luftwaffe starting on September 1, 1939 following the Nazi invasion of Poland. Land fighting started on September 8, when the first German armored units reached the Wola district and south-western suburbs of the city. Despite German radio broadcasts claiming to have captured Warsaw, the initial enemy attack was repelled and soon afterwards Warsaw was placed under siege. General Czuma managed to gather enough forces and war material to successfully defend the city for several weeks longer. However, the situation of the civilian inhabitants of Warsaw became increasingly tragic. Constant bombardment of civilian facilities, lack of food and medical supplies resulted in heavy casualties among the city's population. On September 26, Army Warsaw General Juliusz Rómmel, started capitulation talks with the German commander. On September 27, at 12:00 a cease fire agreement was signed and all fighting halted. Soon afterwards, Warsaw capitulated. On September 29, the garrison of Warsaw started to hide or destroy their heavy armament. Some of the hidden war material was later used during the Warsaw Uprising. On September 30, the evacuation of Polish forces to German prisoner of war camps started and, the following day, German units entered the capital. City was occupied until January 17, 1945. #legoww2 #lcmhistory #ww2history

On the morning of June 6, 1944, thousands of US infantry began landing on a beach code-named Omaha, in Normandy, France. In order to push the Germans back, the Americans had to make it across the beach and up the cliffs, all while under heavy machine gun fire. The first waves of soldiers that landed on the beach sustained heavy casualties as the Germans remained relatively unscathed inside their concrete bunkers. But as the battle wore on, the German's ammunition began to run low and the Americans were crossing the beach, and making it up to the German positions on the cliffs. by the end of the day, the Americans had lost over 2000 men, but they now had a foothold in France and would push the Germans back for the remainder of WW2. sounds from Freesound.org, Sounddogs.com and Pond5.com music from AudioNetwork.com Camera used: Canon Rebel T5i software used: DragonFrame and Sony Vegas Inspired by Saving Private Ryan

The Soviets invaded Poland on 17 September. The campaign ended on 6 October with Germany and the Soviet Union dividing and annexing the whole of Poland under the terms of the German–Soviet Frontier Treaty. Polish radio: 🤍

The Battle of El Alamein 3:40 The First Battle of El Alamein was a part of the WWII North African Campaign and took place in northwestern Egypt on July 1st, 1942. It began with the British being attacked by Axis forces led by Erwin Rommel, whose objective was to capture the Suez Canal, the Middle Eastern oil fields, and other strategic locations. however, the British defense was quite formidable and the Axis forces were not able to defeat them in any significant way. after days of vicious fighting, Rommel, undersupplied and outnumbered, decided to call off his attacks and assume a defensive position. Around 2 months later, in the 2nd Battle of El Alamein, The British would now launch an attack on the Axis front and eventually force Rommel to retreat, turning the tide of the North African campaign in the allies' favor. The Battle of The Bulge 7:41 On December 16, 1944, the Germans launched their last major offensive of WW2, intending to split the Allies' lines in two. As the Germans advanced through the Ardennes Forest the Americans were caught completely by surprise and were pushed back, creating a bulge in their frontline which gave the battle its name. The German's initial success did not last, however, and their advance was stopped ten days later as overwhelming numbers of Allied forces arrived. In the following weeks, the Germans were driven back and lost all the ground they had previously taken. The Battle of the Bulge lasted about six weeks with both sides taking around 90,000 casualties each, but unlike the allies, the Germans had drained their resources and manpower and would never recover.

Operation Market Garden was a failed World War II military operation fought in the Netherlands from 17 to 25 September 1944. It was the brainchild of Field Marshal Sir Bernard Law Montgomery and strongly supported by Winston Churchill and Franklin Roosevelt. The airborne part of the operation was undertaken by the First Allied Airborne Army with the land operation by XXX Corps of the British Second Army. The objective was to create a 64 mi (103 km) salient into German territory with a bridgehead over the River Rhine, creating an Allied invasion route into northern Germany This was to be achieved by seizing a series of nine bridges by Airborne forces with land forces swiftly following over the bridges. The operation succeeded in liberating the Dutch cities of Eindhoven and Nijmegen along with many towns, creating a 60 mi (97 km) salient into German-held territory limiting V-2 rocket launching sites. It failed, however, to secure a bridgehead over the Rhine, with the advance being halted at the river. The film shows one of the fights fought in the Netherlands. Instagram: 🤍 ©Lego

Throw on a good pair of headphones, sit back, and enjoy! If you enjoyed the music, check out MM Music here: 🤍mmmusic_composer On April 1st, 1945, the US military launched an assault on Okinawa, codenamed Operation Iceberg. More than 180,000 US soldiers were deployed on the southern coast of the island. Although Japanese resistance was initially sparse, the ensuing battle for the island would last 82 days, killing an estimated 12,000 American soldiers, more than 100,000 Japanese, and roughly 50,000 Okinawan civilians. The battle was the bloodiest of the Pacific campaign, and subsequently became nicknamed the Typhoon of Steel. On June 22 US forces seized control of the island as Japanese officers committed ritual suicide. The US would use the island from which to launch naval and air attacks on mainland Japan until the end of the war. In honor of the 76th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge On December 16, 1944, the Germans launched their last major counteroffensive of the Second World War. After planning for months, the Germans took advantage of a large winter storm to mount their assault, through which they planned to reach the Belgian port of Antwerp. At 5:00 A.M on the 16th, the Germans started bombarding the American line along the Ardennes Forest in Belgium. Fresh with new and inexperienced soldiers, the American line was quickly penetrated. The Germans attacked in massive numbers with tanks, soldiers, and other military vehicles. Within two days, they advanced past the forest and into the surrounding towns, including Stavelot, St. Vith, Schnee Eifel, and Malmedy. The following week involved intense fighting in the towns with fierce resistance from the American forces. One week later, on December 20, the 101st Airborne Division became completely surrounded by German forces in the town of Bastogne. The Allied Commanders, realizing the severity of the situation, tasked Patton’s Third Army with relieving the 101st. After intense fighting over the next week, the US 4th Armored Division of Patton’s Third Army arrived in Bastogne, alleviating the battered 101st Airborne Division and driving back the German Army. Unable to retaliate, the exhausted German forces retreated back into Germany. By the end of January, all traces of the counteroffensive were erased. Only three months after the conclusion of the Battle of the Bulge, the remaining Germans surrendered on May 8, 1945, officially ending the Second World War in Europe. We did not include some aspects of this battle. This was not intended to offend or diminish the importance of the events that took place but was rather a creative choice we made. On November 8, 1942, over 100,000 Anglo-American troops landed in three major ports throughout Vichy-France occupied North Africa. With the support of British and American warships bombarding the coast, the Allied troops managed to defeat the stubborn Vichy-French resistance. With the ports secured and the French troops defeated, Allied commanders forced Vichy Commander Admiral Darlan to call a cease-fire in North Africa. From there, the Allies would fight their way across North Africa and back into the heart of Europe. Although Operation Torch fell short of expectations, it gave Allied commanders invaluable experience for further operations. The events that transpired in early November of 1942 would heavily influence and ensure success of the invasion on D-Day, a year and a half later. On May 26, 1941, Bismarck, the German battleship, was heading towards France for repairs, after she sustained minor damage during the Battle of the Denmark Strait; the battle in which Bismarck, with the help of the battleship Prinz Eugen, sank the British battlecruiser, HMS Hood. The British had been tailing Bismarck for the following two days, and on the night of May 26, began their attack. A group of torpedo planes were sent to strike Bismarck, and although, when released, most of the torpedoes missed the ship entirely, one managed to hit Bismarck's stern and disable her rudder, preventing the battleship from continuing on her course. British ships began closing in on Bismarck, who was now incapable of outmaneuvering them. The following morning, the British began their final assault by firing hundreds of shells into the Bismarck, who, tried to retaliate, but due to her broken rudder, was unable to maintain a steady course, which prevented her guns from firing accurately at the enemy ships. Soon, the relentless shelling began to seriously damage the battleship, and she began taking on water. With the fate of Bismarck now certain, the commanding officer gave the order to abandon ship; the crew then primed scuttling charges and jumped overboard. Shortly thereafter, Bismarck sank beneath the Atlantic waves, taking the vast majority of her crew down with her.

Sorry for the weird blurriness of some shots as I assure you that was not intentional and am not sure why it happened. This video was intended to be twice as long with a scene of the actual bunker fortifications being taken out by the panzer but with the decision of my discord server and my lack of motivation, I left it with this. As always thank you for watching!

This is my first brickfilm at 12 FPS, please let me know if you like it. Thank you for watching and if you enjoyed this brickfilm subscribe because I'm already working on part 2. Please consider becoming a channel member if you would like to support me and my work, It helps me buy the proper equipment for new videos and you get a shoutout at the end of every animation :) Addressing the minor inaccuracies - I ordered balaclavas for my Soviet figures to look like they had a wrap around their head to keep them warm. But midway through the animation, I found out that soldiers didn't have face covering in WW2 that hid the identity of soldiers. Balaclava was a “poverty turned to virtue” solution of the British army during the Crimea war 1853–1856 to fight cold weather lacking proper winter clothing. So I will not be including this in part 2. I know the B4 Howitzer takes a long time to reload and I only had one artillery piece. I tried making the soldiers interact with it more but it's too fragile and I broke it 3 times while animating, so the scenes were scrapped. So I green-screened the barrel of the only B4 I had to make it look like there were many more and I cut scenes quickly to make it seem like there were many pieces firing at once.#countdodo500

Lego WW1 - The Gallipoli Campaign - stop motion

In the latter months of 1914, with the trenches of World War One bringing the war in Europe to a standstill, the Allies needed an alternative way to defeat Germany and the Central Powers. The Allies decided that capturing Constantinople and defeating the Ottoman Empire, one of the Central Powers, was Their best course of action to gain the upper hand in the war. They assumed the Ottomans would not offer much resistance, since the empire was in decline and their military was not as technologically advanced as the European armies. Anyone who wanted to reach Constantinople via the Mediterranean Sea would have to pass through the Dardanelles Strait, which is adjacent to the Gallipoli Peninsula, and this was where the Allies planned to begin their attack. The Gallipoli Campaign began in the early months of 1915, with the Allies launching a naval attack against the Ottoman fortifications along the Gallipoli Peninsula, however, Ottoman artillery and naval mines were able to sink many of the ships before they could do any significant damage to the coastal defenses. The Allies now knew that if they were to defeat the Ottomans it would have to be on land, and so in April 1915, the Gallipoli landings commenced. In the early morning, thousands of Allied soldiers, which included many men from Australia and New Zealand, climbed into small wooden rowboats and were sent ashore at various points along the peninsula. Ottoman resistance in many areas was fierce and many of the soldiers were killed before they reached the shore, despite this, by the end of the day, all of the beaches where the Allies landed had been captured. The initial success did not last however, as Ottoman reinforcements arrived and secured the hills above the coast, halting any significant advance by the Allies. Fighting would continue in the following months, with neither side being able to achieve a decisive victory, until December, with their soldiers not much closer to Constantinople than when they first landed ashore, the Allies made the decision to cease their attacks at Gallipoli and evacuate the peninsula. In the end, close to 60,000 Allied soldiers and an estimated 60,000-90,000 Ottomans soldiers lost their lives in the Gallipoli Campaign. 3rd photo in the summary credit: Bundesarchiv, Bild 183-S29571 / CC-BY-SA 3.0
