Another Japanese Chef's knife! This shape is inspired by Nakiri knives typical Japanese-style vegetable knife but with a western full tang construction and a general utility bevel geometry. The steel is 02 high carbon. Handle is made of ebony and teak (or oak, not sure) both aged well by a luthier and white vulcanized fiber liners. The pins are all brass with the middle one in mosaic made by me in a previous ideo. Clarification: With the words "inspired by Nakiri knives" I wanted to point out that this knife is not an actual nakiri. The handle construction, bevel geometry and thickness have pretty much nothing to do with traditional japanese knives. This knife has been made to be used as a general purpose knife, that's why is thicker than you might expect! Knife Making - forging my first feather explosion damascus with Thiers steel [EN] In this video I finally test my press and make my first feather explosion damascus. When you are self-taught in damascus you say to yourself I understood how he did it but putting it into practice is not so easy! Forging a damascus feather blade is not easy I spent hours watching videos on this subject and once I understood the steps I started, but between theory and practice there is a world! I managed the steps pretty well until I split my damascus ingot in half to give the feather design because the tool I made for myself to split the ingots was too thin and it melted as I went. In addition, my tool was stuck in the ingot, I sweated to get it out and had to cut it again each time. I'm going to have to make myself a stronger tool! but hey, I'm happy with the result because this feather damask is unique. see you soon BOULDERDASHFORGE Share the video with your friends who might be interested. ▬▬▬ TO GO FURTHER ▬▬▬ 💡 Subscribe to BOULDERDASHFORGE to follow my various craft achievements: 🤍 💡 Find me on my website: 🤍 💡Discover my playlist: 🤍 ▬▬▬▬ SOUND ▬▬▬▬ Musique : Metal par Alexander Nakarada (🤍serpentsoundstudios.com) Sous licence Creative Commons BY Attribution 4.0 License 🤍 par/4.0/ ▬▬▬ ABOUT THIS VIDEO ▬▬▬ I regularly post cutlery, metalwork, blacksmithing and furniture videos 😊 so don't miss anything subscribe! #BOULDERDASHFORGE #knife #craftsman #forge #knife making #blacksmith

Tanto knife made from ball bearing steel, brass plate and mutenye wood. Overall lenght is 36cm with 23cm long blade 4mm spine thickness. This is the first time I try this kind of construction, it's very satifing but takes a really long time as a good fit require lots of fiddling. I also love the fact that it can be disassembled, but it sure is some extra work! This bearing steel is very hard, forging took some effort, but it does make for a very hard edge after heat treatment, with 65 Rockwell file barely scratching in some areas. Unfortunatly the steel did not took the hamon too well, it's there, but not very dark. Still, after finishing the steel to high grits it was cool to see the steel structure peeking through after the etch in ferric chloride.
