A few weird things in my 2015. I had to reboot the car twice before this worked. Then when it activated, I pressed start after taking my foot off the accelerator and the REX fired up for a split second before the vehicle turned off. Then I pressed start again and the vehicle turned on, with the REX. Finally, despite being at 32% battery, the dash shows “Battery charge too high.” Even though I successfully started the REX.

Hope you can answer this question. I have a 2019 Rex. I have read that the generator turns on at 6%. I also read that if the demand on the generator, like mountain terrain or high speed that the generator might not be able to keep up and maintain the 6%. So my question. To not cut it so close can I put the i3 into emissions mode using your process when I am at 20% charge and you say the generator will run for 20 mins. Can I do that. In other words can I drive the car normally in emissions mode. Also is there any difference in running for 20 mins in emissions mode, assuming your answer is that I can drive in emissions mode, but is running in emissions mode and different than when the car automatically turns in the generator at 6% battery power remaining? Thanks for any answer you might provide. Cheers.

I3 with REx has to be checked in Georgia as well. That's where this video was made so it makes sense that this dealership would make this video. 🙂

In California electric and hybrid vehicles are exempt from smog checks so this is unnecessary. The i3 REX is a TZEV designation in the US.
